Thomas Joseph Clifton (1788-1851).

Hetty Clifton (d.1864) Daughter of Peregrine Treves. Her first husband was David Campbell of Kildalloig, son of John Campbell of Kildalloig and Mary Campbell.

Her second husband was Thomas Joseph Clifton (1788-1851). She died on 4 June 1864.

 

THE EARL AND COUNTESS OF SHREWSBURY AND THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS DORIA, family, and suite passed through Preston yesterday, en route to Lytham Hall. They stayed for a short time at the Bull Hotel [Preston].

Death of Thomas Clifton, Esq., of Lytham Hall, Lancashire. 

We have recorded in our obituary the death of Thomas Clifton, Esq., of Lytham Hall, Lancashire, which took place on the 17th inst., at his town residence in Belgrave-square.

The deceased gentleman was the head of one of the oldest and most influential families (Clifton, of Clifton and Lytham) in Lancashire.
 
Born a Catholic, he early abjured the errors of Romanism, and had for many years before his death been a conscientious and zealous member of the Church of England.

He was born Jan 29, 1788 and married March 17, 1817. Hetty, daughter of Pelegrine Treves, Esq., formerly Post Master General in Bengal, by whom he had five sons, four of whom survive him. Mr. Clifton is succeeded his extensive estates by his eldest son, John Talbot Clifton, Esq.
