1894 Storm at St.Annes-on-the-Sea.

St.Annes Pier, looking inland from the pierhead,
October 1894. A storm on 24 October 1894. caused a fishing boat, "The Wanderer" owned by
Thomas Rimmer, to break loose from her moorings and crash against the cast iron pier supports. Some
of the supporting columns were smashed and a section of the deck was brought down and washed away.
The pierhead was completely severed from the reat of the pier and could only be accessed via the
jetty.
