Curtain falls on old Lowther
THEATRE in the open — work in progress on the
£360,000 improvement scheme at Lytham's Lowther Pavilion.
Due to take nine months the project is to turn the 60 - year
- old wooden pavilion into a brick - built leisure centre.
The building is being widened and enlarged to make room for
badminton courts and new dressing rooms.
When finished, it will be able to be used for events such as
exhibitions, snooker, boxing, plays, conferences, festivals and fashion
shows.
Fylde Council is meeting part of the cost of the scheme
from the £154,000 insurance money from the burnt - out Ashton
Theatre.
